Groomsmen!

STEPHEN

I'm Stephen, I live in Winnipeg where I'm currently in my last year of a bachelor of science degree in physical geography at the University of Winnipeg. I also work part-time as a "travel councilor" for Travel Manitoba's Explore Manitoba Centre at the Forks and I am a demonstrator/marker for an Intro to Earth Science lab. Somehow I met Jordan at university through friends of friends of my girlfriend, Christine. We gradually became friends and band mates. Jordan and I formed We Eat Meat together in 2006 (or was it 05? no I think it was 06) then Chris joined us and invited us to join his band, Not Animals. So, the three of us play in (at least) two bands together, and It's pretty much the best. um, I think that pretty much covers the basics.

ANTHONY

I'm Anthony, I'm an RCMP officer, and I've been posted in a small towncalled Chetwynd for the past 3 1/2 years. My wife's name is Alaina. We were married in 2008. We like to play cribbage, and Alaina wins roughly 59% ofthe games. I became friends with Jordan in 2004 when he moved to Winnipeg and I moved back. He was related to my favourite local family outside my own (the
Perrys) so it was a no-brainer move, and I only very slightly had to barge the scene that he, my little sister and a bunch of other people their age had going on. I value Jordan's friendship because I think he's just a really smart guy. Jordan was the MC at my wedding.

JOSHUA

I'm not much for bio's, Jordan pretty much said it all. I currently live in Victoria with my partner Christine. I pretty much eat, sleep, breath, and dream about skiing and the mountains. When I can't get out I drive those around me crazy by constantly watching ski movies and moping about complaining.

CHRISTOPHER

I've lived in Winnipeg my whole life and had never left Canada until I was about 22. Jordan convinced me to get the heck out of here, so we went to Minneapolis where I had one of the best days of my life (we got to see The Blow and SO much art). I've been making music since high school and have been drawing since before I was in kindergarten. I currently hold down a graphic design job and rock out on the side.

Saint Margaret's Anglican Church

Our ceremony will be held at Saint Margaret's Anglican Church. Saint Margaret's has been a welcoming community to us for several years, and has been a wonderful place for us to grow and join in community. Following are some images of the beautiful building.

Jeanette Showing at Gallery 803- Opening November 29th

Jeanette is showing her (amazing) art at Gallery 803 this winter - just in time for wedding guests from out of town to see her art!

Jeanette will be showing from her latest series that uses imagery from the ancient Lake Agassiz. Lake Agassiz was this huge glacier that used to cover practically all of Manitoba and North Dakota. It slowly melted and left us with big old Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg. Check out more info on the history and geography of Lake Agassiz at the wikipedia page.

Jeanette has etched, screen-printed, hand drawn and gilded to create the new work.

Gallery 803 is at 803 Erin Street, and there is an opening reception from 2PM-6PM on Sunday, November 29th. The show will be up through January.

Clint Enns will also be showing video work at the gallery.

Gifts

We are really honoured that some of our guests might want to give gifts to us to celebrate our marriage and help us start our life together. Thanks!

Registry

We're registered at the Hudson's Bay Company. Click the link to the left, and you can view our registry online, as well as make purchases online. To find our registry, just search for one of our names - Jeanette Johns or Jordan Crosthwaite.
You can also get information about it in-store, at any Bay location.

We are also registered for a few things at Ten Thousand Villages. The process for navigating this registry is much the same as The Bay.

Other Ideas

Please don't feel limited to the registry, though. We are open to your creative gift giving, in whatever form it takes!

Here are some things that might give you some direction if you're looking into how we could use some help:

RONA - Our tool selection is pretty measly. A gift card to RONA could ease us into handy-man and handy-woman marital bliss.

Mountain Equipment Co-op - You might not think that Jeanette and I are out-doorsy, but life in Winnipeg is just so harsh we need all the survival equipment we can get. Gift cards form MEC will keep us outfitted for the near-apocalyptic winters in Winnipeg.

McNally Robinson Booksellers - There's always books!

Colours Art and Framing - Jeanette is an artist!

We also love to collect vinyl records, handmade ceramics, gin, and cute little 'best wishes' cards autographed by you!

Parking

Ceremony:

Parking at Saint Margaret's for the ceremony will be quite simple. You might have to walk a little, but free street parking is abundant in the neighbourhood, with no cost and little time restrictions.
A overnight parking ban may be in effect if there is snow removal planned for that night. If that's the case, you'll have to move your car before the snow-plow moves it for you. Usually bans are in effect from 2AM-6AM.

Reception:

Parking in the Exchange District is a pet peeve for every Winnipegger I've met. That's why Jeanette and I ride our bikes. But given that it is January, you might not want to pedal your way into the party, so here are some ideas for parking downtown.

1. Street Parking is available near Ace Art, but it's hit and miss, and sometimes restricted by the time of day/length of parking time. Use your own discretion when parking on the street, because we don't want you to get towed!

2. ImPark lots. ImPark are private parking business that specialize in ugly and expensive parking lots with great locations. These lots will likely be in very little use on the Saturday night of our wedding, so they might be a good idea. Remember to pay, and to place your little ticket right-side-up on the dash of your car, or else you might be bussing home. There are two ImPark lots close to the reception venue.

One is one-and-a-half blocks north of Ace Art on King St. It's between Bannatyne and William on King St. It's the oldest parking garage in the city. Maybe even in Western Canada.

The second is a block south of the reception venue at the corner of Ellice and Notre Dame. It's uncovered, but close to the venue.

A map of these parking lots is below or linked here.

3. Taxi.
Unicity Taxi: (204) 925-3131
Duffy Taxi: (204) 925-0101

4. The Bus! Winnipeg Transit might be able to help you to and from our wedding. Careful though, because busses in Winnipeg don't always run after midnight.

Reception

The reception will immediately follow the ceremony, hopefully getting under way at 7PM.

The reception will be held at Ace Art, Inc. Ace is a local contemporary art gallery that has kindly rented us their services for the evening.

Ace is located on the second floor at 290 McDermot Avenue. It's between King St and Princess St in the Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg.

The reception is on the second floor, so you'll need to either take the stairs or the elevator to get up to the party.

Ceremony

Jeanette and Jordan will be married at Saint Margaret's Anglican Church at 160 Ethelbert Street in Winnipeg.

The Church is at the corner of Ethelbert St & Westminster Ave. in the Wolsely neighbourhood. A map is included below.

The ceremony will take place at 5PM.

We will be married by the Rev. Dr. David Widdicombe.

Parking is only available on neighboring residential streets, though there is no time limit or cost associated with parking in the area. A snow-removal ban may be in effect overnight, so please be mindful of signs when parking at the church.

Welcome!

We're so excited to get married! And we are so excited to have you join us.

Here's the run down:

On January 2, 2010 Jeanette and Jordan are getting hitched at Saint Margaret's Anglican Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A reception will follow at Ace Art Inc.

Think of the fun! Winnipeg in the winter, with snow, sunshine, brisk outdoor fun, warm fires and mulled wine, and maybe a snowball fight or two!

A quick update:

Invitations will be in the mail by Monday. We've been feverishly hand print and assembling each one. We are hoping to get RSVP's in late November or early December.

Here's to us!
